Unravelled is a memoir exploring the long-term impact of childhood domestic, family, and sexual violence, dissociation, survival, identity, and healing. Through deeply personal storytelling, Sharon shares the realities many survivors carry silently — and the journey of reclaiming self after trauma.
I wrote Unravelled to give voice to experiences that are often hidden behind silence and shame.
My hope is that through storytelling, survivors feel less alone and conversations around trauma, healing, and recovery become more compassionate and understood.
Not at all.
While many survivors deeply connect with the memoir, Unravelled also resonates with mental health professionals, carers, advocates, loved ones, and anyone seeking greater understanding of trauma and resilience.

Yes. Sharon regularly shares her reflections, journal writings, advocacy pieces, and conversations exploring healing, identity, trauma recovery, and reclaiming voice.
More than anything, Sharon hopes readers walk away with hope.
Hope for survivors to recognise that they are not alone in the way trauma can shape identity, relationships, self-worth, and the nervous system long after the events themselves have passed.
Sharon also hopes the book helps create greater understanding around the lifelong impact of childhood domestic, family, and sexual violence — and the courage it takes to begin healing.
If even one person feels seen, understood, or less alone after reading Unravelled, then sharing my story has been worth it.is item.
Writing Unravelled was incredibly cathartic, confronting, and deeply emotional.
For much of my life, I carried these experiences internally — suppressing them, questioning myself, and often feeling as though I was somehow the problem. Writing the memoir allowed me to begin giving language to experiences I had held in silence for decades.
While healing is never linear, the process of writing helped me better understand my own journey, reconnect with my voice, and release some of the shame and self-blame I had carried for so long.
In many ways, writing the book became part of my restoration.
